Urban Art Biz 7 – Grants
Presented in partnership with Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery and Creative Manitoba
Urban Art Biz 7- Grants
Join us for an online conversation discussing upcoming Grant opportunities on Wednesday, Feb 23, 2022, from 12pm -1:30pm CT.
We welcome our very special guests:
Dominic Lloyd – Winnipeg Arts Council – Programs & Arts Development Manager
Tracey Longbottom – Manitoba Arts Council – Program Consultant for Indigenous 360
J.L. Watson – The Canada Council for the Arts – Program Officer for Creating, Knowing and Sharing: The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
As grant season is quickly coming upon us, we are offering artists an opportunity to hear from the program consultants/managers / officers of funding bodies they may be applying to. We will cover the basics of what grants are upcoming, what makes a successful application, the importance of contacting the program consultants before you apply, and what to do if your grant is not successful.
For those who are already in the process of applying for a grant, this workshop may help provide the finishing touches on your applications and give you that final push to apply. For those artists new or hesitant to the process, the workshop will give you some understanding of the funding process, introduce you to the possibilities, and instruct you on the basics of a successful grant application. Overall, we hope to enlighten and encourage Artists to apply for grants, and lessen the intimidation factor, by providing insight and encouragement.
