As a multi-disciplinary installation artist, my work
deals with language within recurring themes of love, desire, loss
and identity. What began as a practice of subversive acts -
spray-painting double entendres, sexual innuendos and poetic
come-ons across the city landscape - has evolved to painting scars
that stand in for words on canvases that have been slit then
stitched. Between these two treatments of language exist a myriad of
others as I stencil, project, paint, bead, bead over, translate,
codify, and absent. The thread that runs throughout my work is the
personal and collective memory of a language wound – the desire to
scratch a site of pain – the wounded space between people.
